My Story
In 1996, I obtained my contractor’s license and began my own journey in the industry. After receiving my contractor’s license, I continued to be multifaceted, working on kitchens, bathrooms, new homes, whole house remodels, rebuilds, accessory dwelling units (ADUs), and renovations in both California and Florida. Initially, I focused on honing my skills within the trades, working for a high-end home builder specializing in homes valued between $3 million and $5 million. This experience allowed me to develop expertise as a finish carpenter and later transition into project management.
From there, I undertook a significant renovation project on a small cabin, raising it to add a room below and adding two rooms to the second level. I performed approximately 90% of the trade work for this project, learning valuable techniques from specialty contractors along the way. Subsequently, I built my own home and developed the land, later expanding it by adding a second floor. This marked a turning point where my contracting career truly took off in California.
Circumstances later led me to Florida, where I briefly explored network marketing. However, I quickly realized that my passion lies in construction. I obtained my contractor’s license in Florida and started anew. The building practices here are different from California, particularly with respect to hurricane resilience as opposed to earthquake considerations. Nevertheless, my passion for construction guided me, and I remained consistently busy.
